Decisions Matter: Ethics for EMS Clinicians Pre-Course LIVE SESSION ON 6/15/2026
This course has been developed under the authority of the State of Tennessee’s EMS Board as a required intervention for licensed EMS providers who have been found in violation of ethical standards set forth in the Tennessee EMS Rules and Regulations. The purpose of this course is to provide a structured opportunity for reflection, education, and professional growth in response to ethical lapses that may have compromised the integrity, trust, or safety of the EMS profession and the communities we serve.
Through this course, participants will examine the foundational principles of EMS ethics, review relevant legal and professional standards, and engage in case-based learning that fosters critical thinking and accountability. The ultimate goal is to support providers in restoring professional integrity, preventing future misconduct, and reaffirming their commitment to ethical, patient-centered care.
Academic Integrity Statement: The use of artificial intelligence tools—including but not limited to ChatGPT, Grammarly, Google, or any other generative software or services—is strictly prohibited during the completion of this pre-course and during participation in the live course sessions.
Students with diagnosed learning disabilities who require assistive technology or accommodations must notify the course instructors prior to beginning the pre-course. Appropriate support will be reviewed and approved on a case-by-case basis in accordance with educational best practices and state guidelines.
Failure to comply with this policy will result in immediate notification to the Tennessee EMS Board and the Office of EMS and may lead to additional disciplinary action.
This course is not intended as punishment, but as a corrective educational measure designed to rebuild trust—both internally within the EMS system and externally with the public. It reflects our collective responsibility to uphold the highest ethical standards in emergency medical services.
